An adrenaline junkie’s guide to countryside getaways

Happy couple healthy lifestyle

Who said a weekend in the country has to be dull…

Most people who opt for a holiday in the countryside, book up with an aim to relax and recharge amongst a quiet and rural setting. And on the other-hand, it is often assumed that the best place to go for an action packed stay is a city with a busy nightlife and plenty cultural spots to explore. However, at Beamish Hall Hotel in County Durham we know that, while a trip to the country can of course offer relaxation, it also is not for the faint hearted.

Here at Beamish Hotel, we offer you just some of the hair-raising activities that will keep you entertained around Beamish and the surrounding area. And we are perfectly located for you to explore the other activities offered across the region.

 Beamish Wild

Here at Beamish Hall, our 24-acre grounds offer the perfect place for guests to take a romantic stroll before a luxury night of fine dining at our own restaurant, The Stables. Whilst this is encouraged we also welcome guests to visit neighbouring Beamish Wild for a fun day out in the canopy of our ancient woodland.

The High Ropes experience offers a challenging 2 hour long course. With 4 zip wires, rope bridges swinging trees and a chance to try out the powerful free fall experience, there is no shortage of activities to get your blood pumping. At Beamish Wild you can also try your hand at archery. If you fancy yourself a bit of an adrenaline junkie a trip away in the North would not be complete without a visit to Beamish Wild.

Endless Adventure North East

If that is not enough, there’s plenty for adrenaline junkies to enjoy around the region, including white water rafting, rock climbing, gorge walking, mountain biking and canyoning — the list is not endless but it is very long.

This fast-growing company run by trained professionals offers an exciting range of sports to try your hand at in the great outdoors. Their River Tees course offers some of the best white water rapids in the whole of the country. But don’t worry you are in safe hands — You can navigate these courses with the help of trained professionals.

Do you want to experience the beauty of the North at its best? Then try your hand at climbing some of the best northern crags. With a range of classes for beginners to intermediates, all members of your group can have a go. Don’t worry about hidden fees, — transport and photographs and the use of equipment are also included in the price of each activity.  A visit to Endless Adventure and you are in for a weekend you will never forget!

Peterlee Parachute

Last but not least, if you find yourself on a trip out in the country amongst the rolling fields, what better way to appreciate the scenery than see it from thousands of feet in the air. Peterlee Parachute centre — located just outside Peterlee in County Durham — is one of the few skydiving centres in the North East of England, making it a brilliant opportunity to ramp up the excitement of a weekend retreat.

The centre offers you the chance to experience a tandem skydive, static line parachute jump or even a whole free-fall course that will take you from beginner to pro.

Whether you choose a peaceful break in which you can pamper yourself, or an activity packed holiday of a life time, the North of England is the ultimate place for a British getaway and there are many ways in which you can appreciate its rugged beauty, albeit at a much faster pace!
